Our Values

We know you may be overwhelmed by all of the buzz words — sustainable, ethical, eco-friendly, etc. We totally understand! So while we 110% support all of these movements, we also want to be as open and candid as we can about our own values and company approach. So here’s the breakdown … 

Sustainable + Ethical 

Having grown up in Turkey (and spending considerable amounts of time each year traveling back to her home), our founder, Handan, knows each one of our weavers personally. She works with them to understand their ancient weaving traditions and how she can best support them through the design and sale of Home & Loft’s loungewear and home textiles. 

She makes every effort to help purchase local sustainably sourced cotton, ensure safe and positive working environments, and honor the beautiful culture and traditions of her homeland. 

Three things: 

  1. We have transitioned to recyclable and compostable packaging so our shipping impact is a little lighter on mother earth! 
  2. Right now our weavers are unable to trace their cotton back to the seed and therefore we cannot certify our cotton as organic. However, we do know that our cotton is locally sourced from farmers who are making every effort to grow their cotton as toxin free and sustainably as possible. 
  3. We are working on becoming Fair Trade Certified (as our practices follow all of the guidelines) however, due to the global health crisis and the earthquakes in Turkey, we are on hold. 

Slow Fashion

There is absolutely nothing fast about our textiles. Each one is handwoven and tailored by real (amazing) people. Sometimes it takes days to make one piece from start to finish. We order our textiles in small-batches, as they take time to carefully and meaningfully craft. Because at the end of the day, in a predominantly mass made market, we believe that small-batch goods are a more sustainable option for the welfare of our makers and the environment.  

Giving Back

We are a proud partner of One Tree Planted a 501(c)(3) non-profit environmental charity that is on a mission to create a healthier climate by protect biodiversity and helping reforestation efforts around the world. 

We have even been able to volunteer to plant the trees that our awesome community has donated! What a joy!
